Review: Zamberlan Ultra Lite Women's Walking Boots

Reviewed: 2025-06-16

Zamberlan boots are at the high end of the walking boot market and normally well beyond our budget, coming in around three times the price of budget leather boots. However, we managed to pick up a barely-used pair from Vinted which gave us an opportunity to try them out against the budget leather boots we normally buy.

The boots are very comfortable and after 6 months of wear, the waterproofing is still fine (but that's typical for most of the boots - we'll need longer to see if they outlast their cheaper counterparts).

The main downside to these boots for us is that the soles are so hard that they don't seem to grip well on wet, smooth rock. They are probably fine if you always walk on soft ground or on gritty surfaces like granite. In Cornwall, there's quite a bit of smooth slate bedrock and, on The Lizard, serpentine which polishes to a spectacularly slippery surface. As a result, these have been relegated to "summer boots" for use in drier weather.

We'll update the review once they've had another season or two of wear to see how they hold up over the long haul against the budget boots.
