The walk begins through the old china clay works at Par Docks, now being reclaimed by nature before reaching the coast at Spit Beach. Here the walk follows the South West Coast Path along the edge of the golf course to meet another public footpath going inland. The route continues inland through Lamellyn and Biscovey to St Blazey Gate and then follows a wooded footpath past Tregrehen Gardens. Lanes and a footpath form the route to St Blazey, along which an optional diversion project is possible to the Eden Project. The return route is then mostly along the Par Canal.

  • Sandy beaches at Spit Beach and Carlyon Bay
  • Optional diversion to visit Eden Project
  • Wooded footpaths with fungi in Autumn
  • Riverside wildlife including dragonflies and damselflies along the Par Canal

  • The route includes some A-road crossings and 30 metres along a narrow verge beside the A3082.
  • The path past Lamellyn House can be slippery when the ground is wet due to moss on the smooth tarmac surface.
  • The path behind the school in Biscovey floods after prolonged rain
  • Note that most coastal walks in Cornwall have paths close to unfenced cliffs.
