The route passes beside Watch Croft - the highest point in Penwith before descending to the coast. The coast path then forms the route to Portheras Cove. Here the route comes inland via Portheras Farm to the heathland. The walk passes Chûn Quoit and Chûn Castle as the route circles back to the start.

  • White sandy beach at Portheras Cove
  • Coastal views towards Pendeen lighthouse
  • Prehistoric Chûn Quoit and Chûn Castle

  • The coastal path contains quite a few small-medium granite boulders.
  • After prolonged periods of rain, streams run across and along sections of the coast path. Some boulder-hopping is required to avoid the deeper water.
  • The steep descent towards Portheras Cove has loose surface material so is slippery in dry as well as wet weather.
  • Route includes paths close to unfenced cliff edges.
