St Wenn to Withiel

The footpath from Rosenannon (directions 7-9) is closed for repairs to the boardwalks and removal of fallen trees. Expected to be reinstated by 21st Nov. It can be bypassed by following the lane to the right just before Rosenannon and then taking the track to rejoin the route at direction 10 (see the map in the app).

A circular walk from St Wenn in the upper reaches of the Ruthern Valley, through Rosenannon woods and along the Saints' Way pilgrimage route to the mediaeval church at Withiel, where the Rector shut down The Pig and Whistle for being an ungodly establishment.

Highlights

  • Pretty woodland at Rosenannon
  • Wildflowers along the lanes and tracks in Spring
  • Quiet countryside with lots of wildlife

Considerations

  • The track at the start is often muddy after wet weather - this can be quite deep from churn by tractor wheels.
  • During summer, the path from direction 3 and the final direction can both become overgrown with nettles and the path through the woods at Rosenannon from direction 8 is also prone to summer growth. Take a stick, and secateurs if you have them, to clear your way.
