Wesley Cottage
On John Wesley's first visit to Cornwall, he sent two companions ahead of him. They only had one horse between them so had to take turns walking. On their way across Bodmin Moor, they stopped in Trewint in search of food and met the Isbell family who were impressed by their piety. One of them appeared two weeks later after being lost on Bodmin Moor and the family took him in and clothed him. A friendship began and John Wesley visited Trewint the following year. The Isbells built an extension onto their house to act as a chapel for the use of all Methodists and John Wesley preached there a number of times. This is now a museum. The Isbells grave in St Nonna's churchyard acknowledges them as the first people in Cornwall to entertain Methodists.
