Gorran Haven to Dodman Point

A circular walk in the bays of Mevagissey and Veryan from the fishing village of Gorran Haven to the remote, sandy Hemmick Beach via The Deadman's Point of old nautical maps, still marked with a huge cross to warn sailors of the perilous lee shores, and Vault Beach where the wreckage washed ashore.

OS Explorer maps are a useful addition for navigating around any temporary obstacles or short-cutting routes, bearing in mind that in Cornwall, some paths shown on the OS maps are obstructed, non-existent or don't correspond to the actual location of the path on the ground.

OS Landranger maps are not recommended as these don't show field boundaries, making it very difficult to locate paths (waymarking in Cornwall is often very poor once you venture off the coast path).
